Design Process

From Concept to Competition

Singapore SlingshotF1 IN SCHOOLSSingapore
01

Research and Planning

Every successful race car begins with research. We analyse the latest Formula One in Schools regulations, investigate engineering principles, study previous competition designs, and identify opportunities for innovation before beginning any design work.

02

Concept Development

Initial ideas are explored through sketching, brainstorming, and engineering discussions. Multiple concepts are compared before selecting the designs that best balance aerodynamics, manufacturability, performance, and competition requirements.

03

CAD Development

Selected concepts are transformed into detailed three dimensional models using professional CAD software. Every component is designed with precision, allowing us to refine dimensions, optimise geometry, and prepare the race car for engineering analysis.

04

Simulation and Analysis

Our digital models undergo aerodynamic simulation and engineering evaluation to assess airflow, structural integrity, and overall performance. The results guide multiple design iterations, ensuring every improvement is supported by engineering data.

05

Manufacturing

Once the design has been finalised, each component is carefully manufactured using precision engineering techniques. Every part is inspected throughout production to ensure it meets our quality standards before final assembly.

06

Testing and Refinement

The completed race car is evaluated through testing, observation, and performance analysis. Every result provides valuable insight into how the design can be improved, allowing us to refine future iterations and continuously enhance our engineering process.

Our Philosophy

The design process is never complete after a single prototype. Every stage builds upon the previous one, creating a cycle of research, design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and continuous improvement. This iterative approach enables Singapore Slingshot to develop increasingly competitive race cars while strengthening our engineering knowledge with every project.
